In the picture below you can see the set-up in which we are soon going to carry out our first experiments that integrate all aspects of our project. The transparent tubes allow us to observe the positions of the motes versus time, providing us with a ground truth for the positioning. The toy problem that the phoenix system will solve is to find the position of the first T-junction visible in the center of the swimming pool. We will pump water through the pipes and the swimming pool is both a buffer for the water and a reservoir for catching any spills. To allow for minor disasters, we are carrying out these experiments outside rather than in our labs on the 8 floor.
